The Farm Today
5,000 hectares of Karoo plateau, a working farm, and a way of life that still runs to a natural clock. This is what a day at Blanco looks like.
The rhythm of the farm
Early Morning
The day begins before the guests do. The horses are fed, the kitchen comes alive with the smell of bread, and the dam reflects the first light on the plateau.
Mid-Morning
Activities start. Rides head out, walkers set off, tennis players take to the court. The farm hums with gentle purpose.
Lunch
A long table laid for everyone. The food is plentiful, the conversation easy. No dress code, no formality — just country hospitality.
Afternoon
The slow hours. Some rest, some read, some swim. The braai is prepared. Sundowners are planned.
Evening
The pub opens. The fire is lit. Another dinner around the big table. The stars arrive. Then sleep — deep and complete.
Who you might meet
Blanco is a working farm. The animals are part of daily life — not exhibits, not spectacles, just the ordinary, wonderful fact of a place where animals belong.
- ●Horses — for guided rides and guests to groom
- ●Dogs — loyal, friendly farm dogs
- ●Cats — in the kitchen and around the cottages
- ●Sheep and cattle on the farm
What has not changed
The veld looks much as it always has. The plateau is still grazed by the farm's sheep and cattle in rotation. The dam still fills from the same underground spring. The mountains Mary and Martha still catch the light at sunset in exactly the way they always have.
The cottages have been updated. The barn has been built. The pool has been relined. But the essential character of the place — the thing that makes people return — is unchanged, and we intend to keep it that way.
Come and see for yourself
The farm is always here. We are always happy to show you around.
