Kids at Blanco
The Karoo is a playground unlike any other. Children who visit Blanco come home with dirty feet, full imaginations, and already asking when they can come back.
Things to do
Pony rides
Guided pony rides for children from 6 years. Completely supervised, helmets provided. A highlight of any stay.
Animal feeding
Every morning the children help Farmer Chris feed the chickens, collect eggs, and say hello to the horses and dogs.
Swimming
The natural spring-fed dam is a favourite on hot days. Safe for wading for smaller children, with deeper water for confident swimmers.
Outdoor play
A jungle gym, swings, and open grassy areas mean there's always something to do outdoors. Bubbles, cricket, and捉迷藏 (hide and seek) are perennial favourites.
Farm walks
Guided walks for families along the 15 km trail network. The kids will spot dassies, tortoises, and birds along the way.
Fire pit stories
Evenings around the fire pit are magical. Toast marshmallows, share stories, and watch the Karoo stars emerge.

Under 3s stay free
Babies and toddlers in cots sleep free. High chair and cot available in every unit — just request when booking.
Child-friendly pace
No set schedules — meals and activities happen at a pace that suits families with young children.
Farm safety
We brief all families on farm safety on arrival. The farm is vehicle-free away from the main road. Children are always welcome to explore with a parent.
Rainy days
Books, board games, and puzzles are available in the Farmhouse. The Barn also has indoor space for play.
